Welcome to Truckers United! We are glad you have stopped by our forum, and if you are not already a member, we hope you will join so you can receive the full benefits of membership. Truckers United is a forum specializing in both virtual and real life trucking. We host a large variety of different trucking games here with mods, help sections, places to put your pictures, and much more. To experience all of this though, you will have to become a member as much of this is hidden until then. Once you do that, please read through this thread as I will tell you the basics of this forum and guide you along.
This forum was started in June of 2008 by my friend Trent and myself, mainly as a small forum for a couple of friends who were interested in trucking simulators created by SCS Software. The forum was named Truckers United because we though it fit well with the genre of games we were playing and hosting here. Not long after the forum was started, however, the site grew much larger than we expected and we had a full time job on our hands. Since the first day of this forum's existence, I know for a fact that this forum could have not survived without both dedicated members and dedicated staff. We have gone through many staff members over the past years, but the team we have now is honestly the most impressive and helpful bunch I've ever had a pleasure dealing with. Without them, this forum would not be where it is today.
Truckers United, at time of writing, has grown to have over 6,800 members. Like most forums, however, many of these users are inactive. On a positive note though, activity has been increasing, and with a new trucking game being released soon, hopefully activity will continue to rise.
Truckers United still has a dedicated following for certain games like 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin' and 18 Wheels of Steel Pedal to the Metal. We offer many additions to the games, like mods, screenshots, and discussions. Thanks to helpful members and staff, we also offer help and FAQ's for the games. Along with virtual games, we have sections for your real life pictures, art, hardware and software, forum games, and just general chat. We think that with this mix of topics, there is something for everyone here!
Read on for a tour of Truckers United
The first board on Truckers United is used for Board Information; mainly a place where the staff will put Important Announcements, along with a section for Suggestions and Improvements. It also consists of a section to post potential problems you are having with the forum itself (not being able to log in, no activation code, etc.) A very important thread in this section, is the Forum Rules. Please take a look at them before you begin to post.
Within board information, we also have Staff General Information. If you are interested in how you can become a future staff member, this is a great place to start out. You'll find lots of information and hopefully some answers to questions here.
New to Truckers United, we now have a Truckers United Sponsor Section. With the help of member Brock, Truckers United has its own decals and sponsors that can be placed on your profile. Check out the board for more exciting information!
The next board is the Fan Area; a place to post your photography, and drawings, along with a board to discuss different hardware. If you don't have anything to post, this is often just a fun place to look around and view member's artwork or pictures.
The next board is a place for General Discussion. In here, feel free to talk about anything on your mind, as long as it is appropriate and not against our rules or Proboards TOS (will be discussed at the Q&A part of this guide). This section also provides users with a place to post links to sites such as virtual truck/flight companies, and personal forums. A contest area is also provided, where the Member of the Month (also talked about in Q&A) will be announced.
*New subboards include WWE, Forum Games and Spam, WOW, and Nascar
The Games Under Development board is a place for staff or members to post information and updates on upcoming simulators for the computer. If you know of a game under development that is not yet posted in this board, please PM (Personal Message) one of the staff members, and it will get added.
The General Help Section is a board that will hopefully be able to answer any questions you have about the games we support here. Tutorials, Tutorial Links, along with common Game Problems are posted here.
The next category is for the main boards here, the Forum Supported Games. In here you will find all the different Trucking Games we support (we always add new ones when they become available), along with mods, screen shots, requests and much more. You will have to register to see inside the boards, but we do not think you will be disappointed.
Up next is Screen of the Month contest; a month-long contest where in-game pictures will be posted by different members, and a poll at the end of the month will decide the winner. The winner will have his picture hosted in this 'Winners' board, and will be in a special member group. More information is provided in the board.
Finally, the Archive board is the place where all of the old topics go. In there, are old help threads that may be able to solve your problem, along with many other things.
I hope you have enjoyed your tour of Truckers United. If you have any more questions/concerns, please let one of the staff know, or leave a reply in this thread.

Q: How can I become a new staff member?
A: We only have certain times when we will need a new staff member, so begging to become one will only leave a negative impact. When we are in need of someone to join the staff team, a thread will be put in the 'Announcements' board, and you will have to fill out a short form answering a few simple questions. The staff will then decide out of the list of candidates the member they want added to the team.
Q: What is Member of the Month, and how can I become one?
A: Member of the Month is a monthly contest run by the Truckers United staff. Throughout the month, the staff will pick who they think deserve this title, and will vote on it at the end of the month. The winner will be awarded his own member group, along with his name at the top of the forum. Staff look for helpfulness, kindness, among other things when selecting their member.
Q: I'm 12 Years Old. Can I join Truckers United?
A: Technically, no, you will have to wait one more year. Proboards TOS states: Please note that this service is available to people over 18 years old and minors 13 and older that have parental permission to sign up. Failure to follow these rules will result in a deletion of your account.
Q: I can't find my activation key anywhere. What should I do?
A: Upon joining Truckers United, an activation key should be sent to the email you signed up under. To be able to post, you will need to active your account first. If for some reason you can not find your activation key, and have looked in your spam folders just in case, report this problem in our Forum Support board and we will sort it out for you.
Q: How do I change my forum skin?
A: We have put up a tutorial on the basics of how to change your forum skin, along with a few other things associated with Proboards. Please read them here:
truckersunited.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=new&action=display&thread=3454
Q:What is the blue vertical bar on the left side of my screen?
A: The blue bar is our side table. Click on it to learn more about Truckers United. Both members and guests can access it. If you do not want it, simply do not click on it.
Q:What is a VIP member?
A: Please check out the link at the bottom called "Explaining each Member Group" for more information!
Q: I am only a junior trucker. How can I get a higher ranking?
A: Your ranking (the title and amount of stars shown on your profile) is dependent on your post count. The higher amount of posts you have, the better ranking you will have.
Rankings follow as is along with the post count required to achieve each:
New Trucker: 0
Junior Trucker: 15
Respected Trucker: 50
Senior Trucker: 100
Master Trucker: 250
All-Star Trucker: 500
Champion Trucker: 1000
Q: I still don't understand all of the features of Proboards. Where can I get more information?
You can find the official Proboards website at www.proboards.com/index.html
More FAQ will be added often, so check back for more.
